With reference to your letter of the 20th
You
ultimo, No.11452, I am commanded by the Army Council
to send you a statement showing that the cost of the
garrison of Hong Kong in the year 1907/8 was
£412,045.
As stated in War Office letter 10/871 (F.1.)
of 31st March 1908, the expenditure in respect of the
garrison of Hong Kong was not separately recorded until
1st April 1907, and the Council regret, therefore,
that it is not possible to state the cost in 1906/7.
